Description

Squadron Prints Lithograph No. A33 - A9C-DHE, Boeing B757-225PCF, DHL Aviation. The aircraft shown above is a Rolls Royce RB211-535 E4 powered B757-225PCF, MSN 22210. It’s first flight was on November 30th, 1984 registered as N520EA in the colours of Eastern Airlines. She remained with Eastern Airlines for eight years until transfer to US Airways on the 1st November 1992 as N618AU. Following 11 productive years with US Airways she had a short rest in the Mojave Desert until finding a new home with Ryan International as N930RD in October 2004. During her time with Ryan International she enjoyed a short lease to Ghana International Airlines until what she thought would be a well-deserved retirement in December 2006. Varig Logistica of Brazil had other ideas and following a conversion to freighter configuration, PR-LGJ was delivered on the 28th June 2007. After almost 3 years of South American operations, she returned to storage in the USA in April 2010, as N241AL. In December 2012, she had a new lease of life and started operations in the sunny Middle East with DHL Aviation which lasted for six years. DHL Aviation (in co-operation with SNAS Trading and Contracting) began cargo flight operations between Bahrain and Riyadh in 1979. Dedicated operations linking the Middle East to Europe began in 1995 with the introduction of a Boeing B757PF on daily flights to the heart of Europe. This aircraft facilitated DHL’s next day delivery service from the Middle East to all parts of Europe. A fleet of 4 Boeing 727 Freighter aircraft were introduced to regional operations in 2004 to meet the increasing demand for uplift capacity. By 2007 the B727 fleet had grown to six aircraft. In 2011, the B727’s began to be phased out with the introduction of two B757PCF’s to support the growing business. These were quickly followed by one more in 2012 and another in 2014. With double digit growth and the route network expanding, two B767SF’s, were introduced in October and November of 2015. Continuous growth required a capacity increase and as such two 757’s were replaced with two 767SF’s in April and June of 2017. The latest aircraft are a step change in capacity, technology, reliability and fuel efficiency and demonstrates our commitment to improving service and extending our network coverage.
