Description

Squadron Prints Lithograph No. 1373 - EF 2000, 31+31, Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 31 "Boelcke", Fliegerhorst Nörvenich. Since its formation in 1958, Fighter Bomber Wing 31 “Boelcke” (FBW 31 “B”) has played a pioneering role in the Luftwaffe. It holds the unique distinction of beeing the first operational combat wing to be formed in the Luftwaffe, as well as the first to operate F-104 G STARFIGHTER an PA 200 TORNADO. In 2001 it became the first combat-ready wing capable of delivering precision guided air-to-ground weapons. Given the wing’s pioneering track record, it was selected in 2010 to develop air-to-ground weapon employment procedures for EUROFIGHTER and will become the first multi-role combat wing. To underline its multi-role aspirations, it was redesignated as Tactical Air Wing 31 “Boelcke” (TAW 31 “B”) in 2013.
