Description

Squadron Prints Lithograph No. 1116, Apache, Puma, Lynx, Sea King, Chinook, Merlin, Joint Helicopter Command Operational Evaluation Unit, RAF Benson and Middle Wallop. The Joint Helicopter Command Operational Evaluation Unit (JHC OEU) was formed on 1 October 2009 when the Rotary Wing Operational Evaluation and Training Unit and SH STANEVAL (R&S Wing) based at RAF Benson, were combined with 667 Development & Trials Squadron AAC, based at Middle Wallop. The JHC OEU is primarily responsible for the Test and Evaluation (T&E) of new aircraft, equipment and tactics with the secondary role of delivering tactical training and qualification through the annual Qualified Helicopter Tactics Instructor Course to specially selected Battlefield Helicopter (BH) aircrew. The Wing also works together to deliver independent recommendations for the usage and employment of new capabilities to JHC; performs a single service assurance to JHC that RAF SH Squadron personnel are competent in role and manages all BH QHTI competence through an annual and biennial revalidation process. The aircraft depicted on this print highlight those types which the JHC OEU aircrew are qualified to fly in the conduct of their duties.
